Since last year, thanks to cooperation between “DNA diagnostic center” from Ohio and Policlinic “Filipovic” from Podgorica, a possibility of doing this analyisis in a private institution exists in Montenegro too.
Owner of the clinic Dr Mladen Filipovic said for Pobjeda that in only 12 months they had 26 fatherhood tests done and a couple of samplings for determining interpersonal family connections.
„Tests can be done after the child is born, in any age. Simplest fatherhood test is done by taking genetic material from the child and an assumed father. In the world, and here too, most common way for this is taking a smear from the inner part of a person’s mouth. We are often asked if it can be done by using a hair sample, skin sample or similar. Every part of our body has cells which contain our genetic material, so it can be used for analysis of genes. However, simplest and cheapest analysis is from saliva, or using the smear from the mouth, and it is usually used whenever possible”, said Dr Filipovic.
As he said, by comparing genes we are getting reliable results, and mathematically speaking the precision of the result is 99.99999 percent, which means that the test is completely reliable.
Results in this clinic are received latest three weeks after taking samples, and usually after 10 working days.
„The cost of testing for personal needs is 350 euros. When testing is done for needs of the court, price is higher for 25 percent”, said Filipovic.
