Montenegrin political parties have not reached an agreement on the conditions for free and fair elections.
The government and the opposition have not been able to agree on two issues: the post of the Speaker of the Parliament, Ranko Krivokapic, and control over the public broadcaster RTCG, said prime minister Milo Djukanovic.
On the other hand, Krivokapic claims there have been seven, not only two reasons why the agreement has not been reached. He said that he promised to Djukanovic he would resign if the PM accepted all points of the agreement.
In the first reaction after the dialogue failed, Milutin Simovic said that the dialogue was not successful because Krivokapic was expected to raise the issue of his confidence.
“The deal offered by Krivokapic has been ridiculous. He has been trading with the post of the Speaker of the Parliament as if it was his property. We will immediately initiate his dismissal in accordance with the Parliament’s rules of procedure. We would have done it earlier, but the DPS expected Krivokapic to take that step which is the only logical one, because his insistence on that post as if nothing had happened in the Parliament on 27 January has been unknown in the practice of parliamentarism,” said Simovic.
As he claims, this is the same thing as if the PM Milo Djukanovic insisted to lead the government, if he had not won the confidence vote in the Parliament, regardless of whether he had majority or not.
