The section of Vucedolska Street in downtown Podgorica (from Njegoseva to Slobode Street) has been closed to traffic for a major three-month reconstruction project worth over €500,000.
The modernisation effort focuses heavily on improving pedestrian infrastructure and public spaces, featuring new sidewalks paved with burgundy porphyry stone, a granite-prism roadway, urban furniture, and 20 new parking spaces.
Crucially, the upgrade will preserve the street’s authentic character and existing greenery. The historical, three-decade-old plane trees will remain untouched and will be supplemented with a new tree, while the existing hedges are being temporarily relocated to Podgorica’s Park and Green Spaces for safekeeping until they can be replanted.
Initial preparatory work and fencing setup are currently underway, with full-scale construction slated to begin as soon as all parked vehicles are cleared from the zone.
