DF against Krivokapic and Becic
While PM Zdravko Krivokapic and Aleksa Becic have been receiving praise and recognition from international institutions, their frustrated coalition partners from the DF are losing patience. It is obvious that they failed to break the Prime Minister and the Democrats as they thought they could, and now they are shooting poisonous arrows at them every day. It is understandable to some point. The people who carried the victory on their shoulders, were investigated and imprisoned, should now agree to the role of observers in the processes offered and given crumbs from the table. And all this while their popularity is falling sharply in favor of the Democrats.
Nebojsa Medojevic called the Prime Minister a “fake Serb” and he also insulted Fr. Gojko Perovic, when he mockingly called him a friar. He also mentioned the university chancellor and Vijesti, accusing them of being shadow rulers who expel church cadres from the Government. In the same reaction, he urges to call elections. In the statement, the DF also refers to Aleksa Becic and accuses him of everything, from the betrayal of the Serbs to the continuity of the DPS policy.
Becic’s dialogue with opposition on 7 July
Parliament Speaker Aleksa Becic sent an invitation to all leaders of parliamentary political parties to start a dialogue in Parliament on 7 July, with the aim of resolving open issues, which are important for accelerating Montenegro’s European path. For now, the invitation has been accepted by the DPS and SDP.
Initiative for dismissal of Niksic mayor
Due to the denial of the Srebrenica genocide, the Niksic DPS filed a report and an initiative for the dismissal of Marko Kovacevic from the position of the mayor of Niksic. The leader of Kovacevic’s party, Andrija Mandic, called the DPS initiative meaningless, calling the DPS enemies of the people. The best of this initiative is that it will force Tatjana Becanovic and URA to once again stand by the Chetniks and genocide deniers, which will not be difficult for them to do.
Majority’s terror
The atmosphere of the majority’s terror fed by the leaders of the parties in power is unbearable. Anyone who dares to criticize this Government is called a mercenary, a spy, a Montenegrin Ustasha and the like. Such a culture of lynching and spreading hatred in public is just waiting to explode.
Activist and member of the 21. Maj Civic Imitative Aleksandar Sasa Zekovic has been the target of attacks, threats and insults for a long time. He decided to report some of the threats, and he was joined by people from the organization to which he belongs, but also from sovereignist parties, primarily from the SD and SDP.
MP Draginja Vuksanovic Stankovic shared with the public what the harassment at the airport in Serbia looked like. The attitude of the Serbian authorities towards her was condemned by the CGO.
In Kotor, the priest of the Montenegrin Orthodox Church was refused medical assistance. Having a Serbian church fanatic at the head of the Ministry of Health, it is no wonder.
Number of Montenegrins and Serbs unchanged
Although many emphasize the fluidity of the Montenegrin identity, it seems to have changed little in the last 10 years. If the Census of Montenegro were held now, there would be the same number of Montenegrins and Serbs as in the 2011 Census, according to the latest public opinion poll carried out by the Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CEDEM), which was presented to the public yesterday. The latest survey has shown that now 45% of citizens would declare themselves as Montenegrins on the Census, and about 30% as Serbs. Such were the results of the 2011 Census – 45% Montenegrins and about 30% Serbs.
Showdown between doctors from URA and the Democrats in Niksic
After taking power and heading the hospital in Niksic, the majority members are now arguing with each other. A doctor, who is a URA member, did not want to hand over the keys to the cabinet to the doctors who are members of the Democrats, and there was a fight. Can it go any lower?
That’s it for today and for this week. See you again on Monday.
