The representatives of the Kamo Śutra? Student group have submitted their demands to Prime Minister Milojko Spajic, pointing out that they expect him to make a statement about them at a press conference by 1 February 2025. They have said that they will not give up until these are adopted.

The requests are as follows:

  1. Resignation of the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of security and defense;
  2. More up-to-date and proactive action of competent institutions regarding the issue of possession of weapons;
  3. Reform of the police structures’ functioning system;
  4. The return of civic education as a compulsory subject in primary and secondary schools;
  5. Improving relationships and mental health care.

“In addition to the above requests, it is necessary to consider the requests proposed by Human Rights Action (HRA) and the Center for Women’s Rights, especially in connection with the declaration of a moratorium on the issuance of licenses for the possession of weapons until the Law on Weapons is amended.

We believe that the entire Montenegrin society, especially young people and children, will benefit from fulfilling all the above requirements, because at a time when the biggest ‘concern’ for security in the world is ‘cyber security’, we in Montenegro, unfortunately, have to worry about the basic life safety, because even being ‘outside’ and walking in Montenegrin streets carries a big ‘security risk’ for us”, the group’s statement reads, among other things.
