As he announced, URA will decide in September whether it will support the protests organized by Democratic front or it will suggest a different form of common oppositional fight. Abazovic wants the political dialog about election process to start as soon as possible in order to improve the ambient for elections.
“Civic movement URA supports the idea for forming an interim government which is the only one that could organize elections with high quality and in a democratic way. Protests that are organized by our colleagues from DF have a goal to form this kind of government and in that context they are an interesting political tool that could lead to this. However, this is not the only tool that we must use in the upcoming period in order to put pressure on the ruling party. We want a calm replacement of the ruling party, an open and honest dialogue between opposition subjects that must result in a common way of fighting for democracy. As citizens, we always supported democratic gatherings on various occasions. Regarding these protests we still haven’t reached a decision, considering that colleagues from Democratic front organized it by themselves, which is of course their undisputable right. Anyway URA will decide in September whether it will support the protests or suggest another form of common political fight of the opposition”, said Abazovic.
He also replied to the question whether SDP, after recent developments, could become a partner of the opposition in a process of replacement of the ruling party?
“SDP missed many chances in previous two years. They definitely are, as they would say in football, “mister can’t score”. After everything, it seems that it will be very difficult for them to politically survive. Still, if they want to save what can be saved, they have to bring down the current government. That is the only way to prove that they trully changed their wrong political direction. As for Civic movement URA, anyone who honestly wants changes in this society is welcome, while not forgetting that everyone bares responsibility for their actions in the past, present or the future”, said Abazovic.
