Alabbar plans to develop a mountain resort on Bjelasica and promote eco-tourism on Sinjajevina

Sinjajevina

Mohamed Alabbar, a prominent investor from the United Arab Emirates, has expressed interest in developing tourism projects in the Montenegrin municipality of Kolasin. Following his decision to withdraw from a planned investment in Ulcinj, Alabbar visited the Bjelasica and Sinjajevina regions, where local officials presented him with proposals for a mountain resort on Bjelasica and eco-tourism and organic agriculture initiatives on Sinjajevina.

According to Vasilije Ivanovic, Kolasin’s deputy mayor in charge of infrastructure development, the vision for Bjelasica includes a year-round mountain centre offering both winter and summer activities. Sinjajevina was highlighted for its untouched natural beauty and potential for sustainable development, particularly in organic food production and environmental conservation.

Local officials, including Mayor Petar Bakic, emphasised the region’s potential across tourism, agriculture, and energy sectors, with a focus on sustainability. Alabbar reportedly responded positively, likening Kolasin’s potential to that of top European destinations. The municipality expects continued dialogue and is optimistic that Alabbar’s interest will lead to concrete investments that could significantly boost the local economy.
