NGO Centar za Zenska Prava (Women’s Rights Centre) and a group of several hundred citizens protested in the street last night over the death of the 15-month-old Pavle Jovovic. The gathered citizens demanded from the proper authorities to punish those committing violence against children more severely.

After the protest, NGO’s executive manager Maja Raicevic said that the organisation received an anonymous report that the boy was received at the Clinical Centre of Montenegro (KCCG) in January, and that, allegedly, injuries were visible on the boy’s body. However, this was never reported to the police.

Raicevic said she would officially request from the competent institutions today to investigate whether the allegations were true.

KCCG director Zorica Kovacevic said she doubted that doctors could have made such an oversight but that she would check if the allegations were true. She said that if they prove to be so, the responsible persons would be held accountable.
