Application for keeping records of Montenegrin emigrants was presented today

Promotion of the web application for keeping records of the emigrants originating from Montenegro was held today in “Podgorica” hotel. It was organized by Diaspora Management.

Accompanying part of the presentation was signing the Donation Contract with the Information Company Nextsense from Skopje, which is the donator of the software for this application.

While presenting the application, Director of the Diaspora Management, Predrag Mitrović, pointed out the challenges in researching and recognizing our diaspora. He said that this application was one of the ways of carrying out some sort of census. It enables us to get to know all the complexities of our diaspora, its abundance, age, intellectual, scientific, professional and other potentials, concentration in individual countries and other specificity that refer to the status and position of our diaspora.

These data are very important from the aspect of the plans for the improvement of relations between homeland and diaspora. With getting to know diaspora better, different resources of emigrant communities and their possible contribution to the development of the country of origin can be more easily identified.

Mr Mitrović invited our emigrants to register, assuring them that all the data will be use for the needs of Management only.

On the behalf of the Ministry, Ambassador Veselin Šuković emphasized the readiness of the homeland to improve the relations between Montenegro and the emigration community. This web app will be one of the possible means of identifying diaspora. Expectations are huge, since it enables social and cultural profiling of diaspora.

Mr Šuković added that projects like this one opened new possibilities of cooperation and networking for our diplomatic and consular network. This app is another proof that the Government of Montenegro is committed to the improvement of relations with our diaspora. Diaspora takes a priority position in our foreign policy and Montenegro is aware of the capital it has in its diaspora.

Welcoming word was given to Saša Gavrilović, co-owner of Nextsense, and Mirollub Orlandić, commissioner of Matica crnogorska in North Macedonia.

Mr Orlandić expressed satisfaction with this project and pointed out that it had finally got its final version.

Second part of the promotion was dedicated to the characteristics of the application and the way it functions. It consists of 27 questions. It can be found at Diaspora Management website.
