Association of judges of Montenegro has condemned “performance” of young activists of DF, who went yesterday to the building of Appellate court president Musika Dujovic and put up a transparent that said “Justice will knock on your doors as well”.
„Young activists of DF had a half an hour “performance” in front of the building of president Dujovic and they sent a threatening and uncivilized message to the whole of Montenegrin judicial system. DF has become openly threatening in their rhetoric, they offend and humiliate the system. This type of treatment of public officials cannot be tolerated. Representative of young activists of DF Koca Djurisic directly offended the personality of judge Dujovic. That action is at the very least inappropriate and irresponsible”, the statement of Association of judges signed by president Hasnija Simonovic reads.
They believe this case is a danger not only to professional integrity of Dujovic, but to his and his family’s safety as well.
„Open threats sent in front of his home create a climate of fear and pressure that no public official must endure. These actions must be properly sanctioned in order to send a clear message that profession and personality of any Montenegrin judge must be respected”, the Association believes.
Montenegrin judicial system must be protected from influences and pressures, especially political ones.
„Independence, objectivity and authority of judges must be inalienable, because that guarantees their quality work. There are legislative mechanism that protect these values. Montenegrin judges will persevere. Still, our profession is limited to rule of law, and in this case we invite the authorities to take legal actions in order to prevent these types of situations and punish their actors”, the statement reads.
Association of judges of Montenegro will continue to take measures in order to protect integrity and personality of Montenegrin judges whenever there is a need, because the reputation, authority and safety of public officials is one of the key factors of stability in any modern country.
