Attack on Škrelja- ‘a risk of parliamentary function’

Škrelja

The president of the Administrative Board, Luiđ Škrelja, was threatened on Tuesday in Podgorica when an unknown taxi driver cut into Škrelja’s way and told him “you should get hit by a car for everyone’s sake!”

Škrelja yesterday participated at the round table “Public media in Montenegro; funding, governance and regulations” and used the opportunity to inform the head of the EU Delegation in Podgorica Aivo Orav and other attendees about this unpleasant event. According to Škrelja, this was not the first time he faced something similar and urged the relevant institutions to provide protection for the MPs.

Orav, on the other hand, noted that a threat represented ‘a risk of the parliamentary function’.

“We simply believe, in a circumstance like this one, an appropriate diplomatic language should be used,” said Orav.

The round table was attended by the representatives of NGO Media Centre, Goran Đurović, president of this NGO’s assembly, Dragoljub Duško Vuković, representative of the Centre for Civic Education, Damir Nikočević and the representative of the NGO 35mm, Kristina Ćetković, and no one reacted on Škrelja’s complaints.
