The Aleksa Becic’s Democrats and Dratan Abazovic’s URA Civic movement will most likely run together in local elections in Podgorica, CdM learns.
According to the portal’s source, the rest of the civic opposition, ie SNP, Demos and SDP, will not be included in this coalition. Thus, the civic opposition will appear in the local elections as at least two entities.
The Democrats and URA believe they can achieve an excellent result in Podgorica elections.
According to the CdM’s source, it is too much to expect everyone to unite.
“I think there is no need for something like that. Some things should not be forced, as it was the case with the Key Coalition (SNP, Demos, URA), which had great ambitions, and eventually won only nine seats in the general elections. We want to create a union of young, reformist and progressive forces that have something to offer to the citizens of Podgorica,” the source said.
The source pointed out that the two the two parties have always had excellent cooperation.
“Thus the new generations of politicians on the Montenegrin scene will join forces. There is plenty of time to arrange everything. Podgorica represents a third of Montenegro, a mini general elections. The elections in Podgorica are a great opportunity for the opposition,” the source claims.
