“Officials of our party have no salaries, secretaries, drivers, per diems – we all work exclusively as volunteers. The extremely modest costs that we do have, we settle through donations from members of our main board and other initiative committees, who reserve part of the monthly incomes of their families, for the settlement of rent and other costs. If anyone denies any word we uttered concerning our finances, we are ready to immediately abandon politics”, Bečić said in an interview for Pobjeda daily.
He said that it was obvious that from the moment the party was established, it was the subject of constant attacks from various sides of the political scene, through both public and secret channels. “The brutality of the attacks and the monstrosity of untruths used to attack us often exceed the limits of common sense. This just further confirms our strength and what no one disputes – that we enjoy great support and growth trend clearly indicates that we represent the future of Montenegro”, said Bečić.
According to him, the Democrats are engaged in their program “to win, not to divide”, pointing to the disastrous results of the current authorities, offering concrete solutions, “minding their own business, except when they are forced to respond due to frequent attacks by those who often lose their compass”.
“It is sometimes necessary to respond so that citizens of Montenegro understand that the processes which took place on the political scene in 2015 were very fruitful for the Montenegrin society, and finally see who is truly fighting for changes and who is fighting for functions and privileges. Democrats managed to attract a large part of voters who previously supported much bigger parties, and even animated a significant number of citizens who were abstinent, which confirms that our presence and the values that we bring prevent passivization of the electorate”, he stressed.
