Although the media speculated that the secretary of the National Security Council and former head of the Police Directorate, Veselin Veljovic, should be appointed as Chief of the General Staff of the Armed forces of Montenegro (VCG) by the end of the year, that is not going to happen. Defence minister Predrag Boskovic makes it clear – Ljubisa Jokic remains at the post of VCG Chief of General Staff.
“I think that Jokic is doing his job well,” Boskovic said appearing on the Vijesti TV’s Nacisto show.
Veselin Veljovic graduated from the Military Academy of the Land Army, and received his Ph.D. at the Faculty of Security in Belgrade.
“I believe that Veselin Veljovic could greatly perform duties as a part of any command office in Montenegro considering his biography,” Boskovic said.
As a reminder, Jokic has been at the Chief of General Staff post since January this year.
Speaking about the case of the dismissal of 22 soldiers, Boskovic pointed out that the chairman of the Defence and Armed Forces Trade Union of Montenegro, Nenad Cobeljic, had a personal interest to exaggerate the case.
“One of the dismissed soldiers is his nephew. I do not think I have broken the social dialogue. Cobeljic wants to deal exclusively with the politics in the armed forces,” Boskovic said.
