Amendments to the law on the proceeds of crime will contain the best solutions of the European Union, says Minister of Justice Bojan Bozovic. He believes that the working group will soon come up with very good starting points and that we will get a good legal text, according to the Radio Montenegro report.
The working group for the amendment to the Law on Property Gains Acquired by Criminal Activity will begin its work in 10 days.
Minister Bozovic says that the new legal text will contain the best EU practices. Therefore, it would be good to opt for one of the proposed models, according to lawyer Veselin Radulovic. He also believes that the Italian model would give more effective results, which was also shown in the practice of that country. Minister Bozovic points out that the French model also has good solutions.
The worst thing would be, lawyer Radulovic notes, if the government decides to keep the existing solution, which implies the conduct of criminal proceedings or the assumption of a conviction. Radulovic fears that everything will again be just an attempt because, as he concludes, the politicians have not given us the right to believe otherwise.
The Government, that is, the relevant ministry, assures that they will be effective.
Minister Bozovic is not willing to talk about deadlines, but he also notes that amending the law on property acquired through criminal activity is the Ministry of Justice’s priority.
