Yesterday, Brajovic sent a letter to co-chairmen of the working group Milutin Simovic and Spasoje Kovacevic, stating that forming this body is seen by SD as the widest relevant parliamentary forum at the moment.
“The working group should be predominantly engaged in electoral legislation, the quality of its implementation, particularly when it comes to application of electronic voter identification system, in order to avoid all suspicions of elected representatives of the people in the next, and all subsequent elections in Montenegro,” it was said in the letter in which Dnevne Novine daily had an insight.
Therefore, the Social Democrats believe that it is essential that they also contribute to the working group.
“I believe we can agree that the working group should involve all political parties that have representatives in the Parliament of Montenegro, which want to participate, in order to ensure its successful work, bearing in mind the importance of topics it deals with,” Brajovic says.
On 23 November, the Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, Ranko Krivokapic, a letter to the presidents of the political entities represented in the Parliament inviting them to a parliamentary and democratic dialogue at the highest political level. As he said, it would lead to commonly acceptable solutions aimed at building fundamental trust and achieving indisputable results in the next general elections.
He sent the letter to the president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Milo Djukanovic, the president of Bosniak Party (BS) Rafet Husovic, the president of Liberal Party (LP) Andrija Popovic, the Vice President of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Rasko Konjevic, the president of the Socialist People’s Party (SNP) Srdjan Milic, the president of Positive Montenegro (PCG) Darko Pajovic, the president of New Serbs’ Democracy (NOVA) Andrija Mandic, the president of the Movement for Changes (PzP) Nebojsa Medojevic, the president of Democratic People’s Party (DNP) Milan Knezevic, the president of Labour Party (RP) Janko Vucinic, the president of Demos Miodrag Lekic, the president of the Civic Movement URA Zarko Rakcevic, the president of the Democrats Aleksa Becic, the president of FORCA Nazif Cungu, the president of Albanian Alternative (AA) Djerdj Camaj and president of Croatian Civic Initiative (HGI) Marija Vucinovic.
The invitation for dialogue was not sent only to the leader of the Social Democrats Ivan Brajovic and Krivokapic justified the move by the fact that the SD was not officially registered at the time. Meanwhile, the Social Democrats have been registered in the register of political parties in Montenegro.
Parties belonging to the DF did not respond to Krivokapic’s invitation.
“The Social Democrats of Montenegro see as particularly important that they are allowed, as all other parties which have their representatives in the Parliament, to contribute to ensuring the widest possible agreement related to all the important issues to be discussed,” Ivan Brajovic said in the letter to Milutin Simovic and Spasoje Kovacevic.
“In this regard, we ask you to include the SD into the work of the working group you are co-chairmen of, since only then can we say that it has full legitimacy, because representatives of all parliamentary entities, who are willing to do so, participate in it,” Brajovic concluded.
