The Founding assembly of Socialdemocrats will be held on Friday, the 31st of July.
When speaking about key program documents such as Statute and program of the party, they will be, as Pobjeda reports, significantly different compared to current documents of Socialdemocratic party.
For example, the Statute of Socialdemocrats states that the president of the party, that will almost certainly be Ivan Brajovic, will have at least two vice presidents which will be chosen on the Congress of the party, just like the president himself. By the Statute of SDP only president is chosen at the Congress, and he/she later suggests his/her team, vice presidents and Presidency to the Executive Board.
The key change in the Statute is the candidacy procedure which allows any member of the party to candidate him/herself for the highest positions within the party, and choices will be made by secret voting at the Executive Board meeting.
The Statute of Socialdemocrats also predicts forming of youth forum, women’s forum and retiree’s forum, which is new at Montenegrin political scene. Also, the Statute of Socialdemocrats predicts significantly bigger executive board which will have more than a 100 members.
When speaking about the program, the key party document states that membership in EU and NATO is a key national priority.
Program has a couple of key areas: national identity protection, rule of law, membership in EU and NATO. Fourth area in the program is economy, fifth is health system and social policy and sixth is education system. Second meeting of the Coordination board, which will be held today, will be attended by representatives of all initial boards that were selected in Montenegrin municipalities.
