Shortly before the session of the Municipal Board, the decision was unanimously supported by the Executive Committee of the Budva DPS.
“… the Municipal Board has asserted that the other coalition partner has, to a large extent, infringed the concluded agreement, acted in an unprincipled manner, directly harming the functioning of the Municipality of Budva, and the fundamentally violating the interests of its citizens”, said the statement signed by Srđa Popovic, mayor and president of the local board of DPS.
DPS emphasized it is more than obvious that the party is committed to attracting high-quality foreign investments, development of basic tourism facilities and creating new jobs in the tourism sector, which has been repeatedly obstructed during the DPS-SDP coalition. The best example is the Queen’s Beach, where direct damage was caused to citizens of the entire municipality of Budva.
“A whole series of moves of our former coalition partner contributed to the adoption of this decision: a boycott of parliamentary sessions, the negative votes on decisions of importance for the citizens of Budva, the behavior during the election of mayor when they, shortly before the voting, and despite the reached agreement, conditioned their participation in the voting by demanding that mandate of the local Assembly be shortened and early elections launched”, DPS Budva wrote in their explanation.
Municipal Committee of the Democratic Party of Socialists also told all citizens of Budva that termination of coalition with the SDP will not affect the functioning of the municipality, as a public service at full capacity. The party added they will, in cooperation with other coalition partners, continue to promote interests of the citizens of Budva.
