As newspapers heard from numerous carriers, Communal police only verbally informed them about the new rules, while some remain unfamiliar with the new routes, writes daily newspaper Dnevne Novine.
“I am not in town right now, but I haven’s received any written notice of the new rules, and nor did my colleagues with whom I am in contact. For now, we are using the old route, and we will see what will happen in the future”, said the owner of a carrier from Danilovgrad.
Those who were informed orally were yesterday very uncomfortable with the change, and so were their passengers.
“We don’t know who has it worse, the passengers who will have to walk or pay a taxi from the road towards Cetinje to their destination for waiting the bus. We are outraged at the decision, and the passengers at us, when we tell them Delta shopping mall will be the last bus stop. On the first day, the new route proved to be less profitable for us”, said Darko Popović, driver and owner of one of the buses in the carrier company ‘Borovnik’ from Niksic.
The carriers are not allowed to drive passengers farther than the traffic lights for the road towards Cetinje, and from there, the bus has to go via Vojisavljevića Street, around Zabjelo, to get to the bus station.
“The Communal Police stopped us and verbally informed us about the new rules. Inspectors would register us into their books and each new stop we made means seven days off the vehicle and misdemeanor charges of at least 1.500 euros. Penalties are rigorous, particularly those for picking up passengers away from bus stops, which is about 1.700 euros”, said Popovic.
