The MONSTAT Statistical Office has informed Minister of Finance and Social Welfare Milojko Spajic that the way in which preparations for this year’s census are currently trying to be made is contrary not only to domestic legislation, but also to valid European standards.
This is stated in the official letter that the MONSTAT director Gordana Radojevic sent to Spajic on 6 September, and which the Pobjeda portal had access to.
She also recalls that the law on the census has not been adopted yet, which, in her opinion, is the first key assumption, i.e. the principle of legality for the activities that are to be carried out in the preparation of the census.
MONSTAT submitted the draft census law to Spajic’s Ministry on 5 April 2021.
