Instant payment, that can be carried out 24 hours, 365 days a year and that provides transactions which only take couple of seconds, is a very expensive system and the Central Bank of Montenegro doesn’t plan to introduce it yet.
Serbia was the first country from the region to introduce instant payment system and it’s, therefore, still very early to talk about the influence it has on payment market.
“We’re following the development of instant payment at the global level and we are considering the possibilities of that system. That’s not a mass system yet and we must bear that in mind, it’s very expensive”, said the representatives of the Central Bank.
They pointed out that new services must be available to all users. Banks in Montenegro enable access to money 24 hours a day, 365 days in a year via online services, pay cards, mobile applications and ATMs.
