The number of tourists who visited Cetinje in the first eight months of this year rose by 20% compared to in the same period last year, whereas the number of overnight stays rose by 3%, the Old Capital of Cetinje stated.
It added that this represented a record-breaking number of tourists visiting Cetinje. The Tourism Organisation of the Old Capital expects the growth in the coming months.
“Good results continued in the first days of September. Since the beginning of the year until 31 August 83,720 visitors came to Cetinje, which is almost by 14,000 more than the same period last year. The number of overnight stays by 31 July was 29,400 or by 700 overnights higher than in the comparative period,” the statement said.
In addition to the visit to the Montenegrin old capital, tourists were the most interested in visiting the Njegusi village and the Lovcen national park.
“When it comes to visits to Njegusi, there is not a precise method of measuring statistical data on daily visits. The Tourism Organization of Cetinje says that by opening the info point in the village, there will be more precise data in the future,” the capital of Cetinje said.
It added that local hospitality providers estimated the visit was lower compared to the previous period. The reason for this is the works on the Cetinje – Njegusi road.
According to management data, an annual visit to the Lovcen national park is up to 100,000 tourists on average, whereas this year a 20% growth has been recorded.
