Montenegro’s ranking on Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) dropped by three places in 2016.
According to the global organisation’s survey, Montenegro has been pushed down to number 64 out of 176 countries – three positions lower than in 2015.
Montenegro’s corruption perceptions index is nominally higher by one point than last year, but other countries have achieved much greater progress. Therefore Montenegro has been ranked lower on the corruption scale.
NGO MANS stated that worsening results of Montenegro were not surprising. As the NGO said, “there are no serious concrete results in the fight against corruption and the key institutions are subjected to political control”.
