Citizens gave 1,4 million EUR for election campaigns

In Montenegro, as far as the politics is concerned, there’s money in abundance. The most recent data of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption confirm it. A total of 2.662 of subsidies donors financed election campaigns since 1st January 2016.

Starting from  1st January of 2016, one election cycle has been held in Montenegro, that is, elections for councilors in every Municipality Assembly and elections for the MPs and president of Montenegro.

“A total of 4.677.638,23 EUR has been collected from all political subjects during the election cycles that took place in the past period: 2.534.918,01 EUR for the elections for the Members of the Parliament, 720.612,58 EUR for the presidential elections, 1.422.107,64 EUR for all the local elections that were held”,reads the Analysis.

According to the data of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, most funds were collected for the election cycles held in 2016, when five local elections and parliamentary elections were held (2.808.190,19 EUR). Around 360.198,21 EUR was collected for the election cycles held in 2017.

A total of 6.781.690,02 EUR was the amount of expenses of all political subjects in the election campaign for the period 2016-2018.
