Citizens saved €1.26bn in banks

By the end of June, Montenegro citizens saved €1.26bn, which is by 2.1% higher compared to May and 10.1% higher compared to last year’s statistics, according to the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG) reported.

“Fixed-term deposits make up 46.9%, while demand deposits account for 53.1%,” the CBCG reported.

The total deposits (including citizens and economy) dropped by 0.4% compared to May and amounted to €3.36bn, whereas at the annual level they increased by 15.2%.

Fixed-term deposits made up 35.5% of total deposits and demand deposits 63.9%. The remaining 0.6% related to funds on escrow account.

As for the loans approved by banks in the first half of 2018, they amounted to €2.94bn, i.e. increased by 1.2% per month.
