Montenegro collected €45.18m in fuel excise duties in the first quarter of 2026, up €2.66m (6.26%) compared to the same period last year, according to the Customs Administration.

Monthly revenues also increased year-on-year in January, February, and March. Overall excise revenues on mineral oils have been rising steadily, reaching €217.8m in 2025.

Authorities note that fuel excise income typically peaks during the summer tourist season due to higher consumption, and emphasise that excise duties are mandatory for such products placed on the market.
