Damjanovic killed with two shots: His brother identified the body

A lifeless male body found in Grahovo on the old Niksic-Cetinje road has been identified. As Dragan Damjanovic from Niksic confirmed for Dnevne Novine, it was his son Pero Damjanovic (35).

Pero Damjanovic was missing since 2 September, when he went to a café with friends in his brother’s smart car. After that his whereabouts were unknown.

His brother reported his disappearance a day later. Police were trying to find him for almost a month and a half.

Damjanovic’s mobile phone that he brought with him that day was out of range. Police suspect that Damjanovic was killed the same day.

The young man’s body was found by the locals the Kobilji Do site.

The body was buried in a shallow grave, which was covered with leaves.

A preliminary autopsy report, which was done yesterday, shows that there are injuries on the chest area and that the victim was killed with at least two shots.

The Police Directorate said it was working on solving the case and that the autopsy report would be sent to the competent prosecutor.

Dragan Damjanovic confirmed that the body was identified.

“Yes, it’s my son. It’s been identified. My other two sons and a nephew are there, waiting to bring the body home, to bury him tomorrow. I felt it from the beginning, and as a father I knew that it was my son,” Damjanovic told Dnevne Novine.

Yesterday, he told Dan he did not want to talk about the state of his son’s body.

“I cannot and won’t talk about it today. I’ve been told that he was killed and buried. If the police do not find the one who killed him, there is someone who will. Today, I will try to have the body transported to Niksic and to bury him. After that we will talk about other things,” the father said.

Dragan Damjanovic earlier said that his son Pero had a criminal record and that he had been in prison several times. He was released from the Spuz prison two or three months ago. He spent seven months there for illegal possession of weapons.

“It’s a weapon that was seized last year in Kotor. He took the blame for that then. He was in prison, that’s true. You can ask me what you want – I’ll tell you the truth. I also have some knowledge that he was a member of the Skaljari Clan,” Damjanovic said then.

The gun he was convicted for was found in December 2016 within the search of houses and cars owned by Kotor residents Jovan and Igor Vukotic.

In January this year, he allegedly beat up Milos Trbo (31) from Kotor in the remand prison. Trbo has been accused of complicity in the murder of prisoner Dalibor Djuric, an alleged member of the Skaljari Clan.
