The draft budget law for the next year is objective and socially responsible, says Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanovic. He adds that the state will not borrow funds under unfavorable conditions.

“When we talk about the budget itself, the budget framework for the next year amounts to €2.85bn, which is €165m more when compared to the revised budget. Of that amount, €785m are earmarked for the payment of pensions and social benefits, so the budget is not only objective, but also socially responsible“, Damjanovic has stated at the press conference on the occasion of the presentation of the 2023 draft budget.

He says that the Government takes care of the social standard of the citizens, which is why pensions and social benefits will increase in the coming years, as well as wages in the part of the public sector where there has been no increase for years.

He adds that the scope or amount of indebtedness for the current year will be commensurate with his conditions, and that the primary goal is for that indebtedness to be on the domestic banking market, with all 11 banks.

“The restrictions are such that, according to the budget, funds of €705m are missing. The debt limit is envisaged at up to €600m”, Damjanovic says.
