Russia’s decision to recognize the self-proclaimed “People’s Republics” of Donetsk and Luhansk is an act of flagrant violation of international law, according to Professor and former Foreign Minister Srdjan Darmanovic.
He believes that an aggressive policy will have a bad effect on Russia in the end.
“It is undoubtedly an attack on a sovereign country, which was already made once in 2014 when it comes to Crimea, and it will certainly be monitored in the whole world or in most countries that are loyal to the international order. On the other hand, it is possible that this is a decision that is a substitute for war, that is, for the great war, although we cannot know that yet”, says Darmanovic for RTCG.
Former head of Montenegrin diplomacy and chairman of the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants, Miodrag Lekic, is of the opinion that the delicate phase of the Ukrainian crisis, which entails the disruption of relations between the great powers, is entering.
“I do not expect unrest in Ukraine, and I do not expect that there may be an escalation of the conflict, because there are great powers at play that do not attack for known reasons. However, the relations will definitely be strained. What we are already seeing now is that sanctions are about to follow”, Lekic has stated for RTCG.
Russia’s decision was condemned by President Milo Djukanovic and DPM Dritan Abazovic.
