Debeli Brijeg: 10kg of heroin seized, Albanian citizens arrested

Customs and police officers seized about 10kg of heroin at the Debeli Brijeg border crossing. Two Albanian citizens, Klodijan Kotori and Adrijana Caca, were arrested on suspicion of attempting to smuggle the drugs from Montenegro, Police Directorate and Customs Administration said in a joint statement.

“Customs and police officers at the Debeli Brijeg border crossing checked a Mercedes ML63AMG car with Albanian licence plates leaving Montenegro. Klodijan Kotori (33) from Albania drove the vehicle, whereas Adrijana Caca (26) also from Albania was at front passenger’s seat. The officers revealed and seized heroin hidden in a specially made bunker under the front passenger’s seat,” the statement said.

Searching the car, the officers found 19 PVC packages containing 10.230kg of light brown powder, suspected to be heroin.

Kotori and his associate have been arrested on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of unauthorised production, possession and smuggling narcotics.

Police officers of the Counter Drug Department took over the suspects, the vehicle and drugs. They informed the High State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica on the event.

Heroin will be sent to the Forensic Centre for expert analysis.
