DPS president Milo Djukanovic is behind the chief special prosecutor Milivoje Katnic’s order and his request to the Parliament of Montenegro to lift DF MPs Andrija Mandic and Milan Knezevic’s immunity, said Nebojsa Medojevic, on behalf of the DF Presidency at an extraordinary press conference in Podgorica.
Mandic and Knezevic are suspected of attempted terrorist act on election day 16 October 2016.
“Djukanovic causes a war in the Balkans. If they want to use force, they will get force as a response. We currently do not what way it will be. Violence can be opposition’s response. A spark in Montenegro may ignite the region,” said Medojevic.
“This represents pushing into conflict and a civil war. If Milo Djukanovic, as a private person, may order the arrest of MPs, this means that Montenegro is on the brink of civil war. This is a fatal move. Djukanovic has crossed the red line and threw down the gauntlet to the European Union, the United States and all the structures that promote the rule of law. On 16 October he planned to eliminate DF,” Medojevic said.
He urged supporters not to organise any protests.
“We do not want in any way to contribute provoking a civil war. Do not organise any activities or make any individual moves,” Medojevic asked citizens.
Milan Knezevic said that neither he nor 80,000 DF voters were afraid.
“Djukanovic, this is personal. If something happens to Mandic and me, it will be your fault. We have families. Even Christ was arrested, let alone Milan Knezevic,” said Knezevic.
Asked whether he will resist arrest, he said:
“I have no intention to leave Montenegro. I am ready for everything, and those who are going to arrest me must also be ready to that act,” he said.
