President of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic has congratulated the citizens on the New Year 2022. He emphasizes that Montenegro has resisted retrograde policies, and will continue to do so in the future. The President says he is optimistic about the outcome of the situation in the year ahead.
“We will remember 2021 because it was not a year of struggle or commitment to the values on which modern Montenegro is based. It was a year in which the incompetence of the executive power and the irresponsibility of the parliamentary majority was completely exposed, a year of wandering and improvisation in the economy, health, education, culture and other areas, which cost the Montenegrin state and society dearly”, the President says.
“Montenegro has withstood all the blows of retrograde politics, both inside and out. The value system whose foundations we paved after the restoration of statehood 15 years ago has shown strength and vitality. In Montenegro, we have resolutely set the barrier for the vampirization of the policy of the 1990s in the region, which seeks to redraw borders and create enlarged nation-states. It has turned out that, regardless of the change of government, the idea of a majority Montenegro, which received support on 21 May 2006, is sustainable and stable, and that in the meantime it has gained new followers, which is a guarantee of our certain European future”, President Djukanovic points out.
“All this gives us hope to look with optimism at the outcome of the situation in the year ahead. I believe that there are realistic expectations that the state-political infrastructure of the government will be renewed, which will work diligently to overcome divisions in society, further reforms and fulfill obligations from the European agenda, which will accelerate our path to EU membership, strengthen the country’s position in NATO and strengthen the credibility of a reliable neighbor, a state that contributes to preserving regional stability”, he says.
He adds that “Montenegro needs a government that will be confidently committed to achieving the strategic European goal, creating a more favorable environment for business development, protecting and attracting new domestic and foreign investments and creating new jobs, fairer social policy and better life of all categories of the population”.
“The struggle to achieve these goals requires a clear vision, as well as determination, courage, skill and responsibility, which our citizens have never lacked in crucial historical moments. I believe the year ahead is one of them”, President Djukanovic stresses.
“I wish all the citizens of Montenegro, our diaspora, representatives in military and diplomatic missions, all our people wherever they are, good health above all, peace, harmony and progress in the New Year”, President Djukanovic concludes.
