Good morning! The DPS municipal board proposed Djukanovic for presidential run, now we’re waiting for his decision. Incidents in Budva and Rozaje.
Djukanovic to be the DPS’ presidential candidate?
The Kotor, Mojkovac, Herceg Novi and Pljevlja municipal boards of the DPS suggested that the current president of Montenegro and the Leader of that party, Milo Djukanovic, should be their candidate running for president of Montenegro in the election scheduled for 19 March. The media earlier reported that it could be Milica Pejanovic Djurisic, Dusko Markovic or Ivan Vukovic. However, it looks like they waited for other parties to nominate their candidates. Recall, several days ago in Munich, Djukanovic said that maybe other person should run for president, but that he’d make the decision during this week. This postponement may cost the DPS a lot, because the party discipline doesn’t mean a lot in the elections anymore. The fact that Spajic has been disqualified and the eventual Mandic’s participation in the second round make Djukanovic’s win more likely, but is a month enough to get support through the election campaign?
Budva – Serbian Sarajevo on the coast
Since the new government has come to power, Budva has become a centre of hatred and oppression. Yesterday’s neighbors and friends find themselves in a situation where they clash over politics and issues of identity. Spreading Serbian nationalism makes life in this city very complicated for us, others, who are not part of that story. This fight in Mogren, for which local DF officials were accused, is nothing new. It has been going on since 2016. This story is sponsored by the mayor himself. Former and current. And URA is here like a fig leaf. This Budva government sponsors the most shameless examples of the Great Serbian nationalism campaign. From pro-Russian and pro-Serbian media, patriotic brotherhoods. The most cosmopolitan city in Montenegro has turned into a xenophobic cesspool, where the concerts of the Ukrainian-Belarusian band are banned, and where the mayor’s assistant tells the Ukrainian refugees to return home and fight if they care about the country.
Nationalist Rozaje priest
After the photos of the ‘frescoes’ from the church in Rozaje were published, the local priest explained that these are historical facts, and that he is not judging the people, but individuals. That’s why everyone is labeled with uniforms and national costumes. When you say that genocide took place in Srebrenica, and that it was committed by specific people in the name of the evil ideology of Great Serbian nationalism, then “Serbs declare themselves to be a genocidal nation”. When a man or woman (like Milojko Spajic says) concretely draws the national costume of the Bosniak executioners above the cradle – who killed Orthodox children in Rozaje in WWII – how is that not labeling an entire nation as criminal? They IZCG responded. Reis Fejzic and Samir Kadribasic. If the priest had sat down with them and talked about the crimes from the distant and recent past, which he uses today for Islamophobia, I believe that those same people would condemn it. And then he should also condemn the crimes of those with whose woodcuts he takes selfies. Nevertheless, he, who came from Serbia a few years ago, decided to slap his neighbors with these frescoes, deepening the inter-ethnic divisions in the community he came to serve.
That’s all for today. Until tomorrow.
