President of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic met last night in New York with the representatives of our diaspora, some of whom also arrived from distant American cities. He pointed out that Montenegro is proud of how our people represent us in the world.
“The President and his wife and members of the delegation were greeted on behalf of numerous emigrants to the United States by the distinguished, very successful businessman Refko Radoncic”, says President Djukanovic’s cabinet.
Radoncic emphasized that he was proud of the vast majority of the emigrant community, which was and remained with its state, and with President Djukanovic, at all crucial moments.
“We must stand behind our state, the authorities will change, but the state is imperishable”, said Radoncic, thanking President Djukanovic, among other things, for keeping his word and being with his people recently in Cetinje, and for instilling hope with his authority that respond in the right way to the attacks on Montenegro.
President Djukanovic, with the pleasure of having the opportunity to continue the practice of meeting our people in the world, thanked the diaspora for all the good they do for Montenegro, never forgetting the unique attitude the diaspora showed towards the country of origin when it was most needed.
“Of everything that has been achieved in Montenegro, the most valuable is peace and its multiethnic and multi-religious character,” president Djukanovic stressed.
“Therefore, the main task at this time is that all together, regardless of nationality and religion, we preserve the valuable heritage of Montenegro, restore the trust of investors and encourage our people from the diaspora to invest in their country of origin, and to return it to the road of progress and development. Everything that is good in Montenegro is largely due to our diaspora, whose commitment and love for their homeland are a real basis for optimism with which we look at our better, certainly European future”, concluded President Djukanovic with reference to regional, European and global context in which the current processes in our country have been taking place.
