Drljević: The Government is ready to intensify negotiation process

By accepting the new methodology of the EU accession, the Government of Montenegro has shown preparedness to intensify negotiation process, was the conclusion of the meeting of Negotiating group.

The 23rd session of the Negotiating group was held today in the European Integration Office. Members of the group discussed the new methodology, Unofficial working document and situation on chapters 23 and 24, as well as support for Montenegro provided by the EU funds during the coronavirus epidemic.

It was concluded that accepting the new methodology was preceded by consultation and comprehensive analysis of the advantages of the new approach.

“In technical sense, the new methodology doesn’t bring anything new when it comes to Montenegro’s negotiation process, but it emphasizes political will for the reforms that exists on both sides. The Government has shown it is ready to intensify the negotiation process”, stated Mr Aleksandar Drljević, the chief negotiator.

Members of the Negotiating group stated that Non paper has added to the entire process given the fact that the document has shown progress in many key areas.

Mr Drljević touched on the support from EU funds during the coronavirus epidemic and said that the EU had demonstrated commitment to the region.
