Đukanović to set a new date for Tivat elections

Montenegro’s State Election Commission, SEC, has adopted the Decision on the cancellation of all election activities related to the Tivat local elections, which were supposed to take place on 5 April, but were postponed due to the government’s measures against the coronavirus outbreak.

“All actions referring to the implementation of elections for councilors in the Tivat Municipal Assembly shall be interrupted, starting from the adoption of this Decision,“ it was suggested.

Several days ago, President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, postponed the Tivat local elections having in mind the current situation in the country due to the novel coronavirus, as well as the Order for taking temporary measures against spread of the coronavirus, and in line with the Law on Protection of Citizens from Communicable Diseases passed by the Health Ministry.
