Employers will agree to a higher minimum wage if taxes are reduced

Mulešković

Increasing the minimum wage without reducing the burden on employers is not a viable and economically justified option at this moment because it could jeopardise the survival of a large number of Montenegrin companies, the head of the Department for International Cooperation and Economy of the Employers’ Union (UPCG) Mirza Muleskovic told Dnevne Novine.

He pointed out that it was very difficult to expect entrepreneurs to increase revenues that would help to resolve high fees and taxes, especially due to the recent increase in the general VAT rate to 21%, which includes the largest part of the input costs, such as an increase in the price of electricity, fuel and introduction and an increase in excise taxes.
