Erjavec: Violent protests are unacceptable

„That is why it is important for all participants to focus on a constructive dialogue which should be held on appropriate forums, not in the street. For Montenegrin road to NATO and EU it will be crucial to continue with reforms and respect the values that these organizations share”, said Erjavec in an interview to Pobjeda.

He emphasized that Slovenia sees Montenegro as a reliable and trustworthy future NATO partner.

„Montenegro has managed to strenghten its international reputation in nine years since the independence. Now it’s at the door of NATO and in two years it has opened more than half of the chapters for negotiation with EU, and it maintains economic growth all along the way. Montenegro is a factor of stability in the region, that is one of the rare countries that doesn’t have unresolved issues with neighbors and it’s active in all regional initiatives”, said Erjavec.

According to him Slovenia is openly advocating the politics of open doors and expanding the Alliance in Western balkans.

„So, at the summit in Wales, we were among the first to support the decision on intensifying the dialogue with Montenegro and NATO alliance. We believe that member countries will give a positive evaluation in December, if Montenegro finishes the remaining reforms”, he emphasized among other things.
