In 2023 and 2024, the government plans to invest €200 mil each year in construction of the second Bar-Bljare highway section, stretching from Matesevo to Andrijevica, suggests the proposal for the Program of economic reforms. The Program is being publicly discussed and according to it, from 2022 to 2024, a total of €20 mil is going to be earmarked each year for construction of the Adriatic-Ionian highway, Dnevne Novine daily writes.

Both infrastructure projects have been reported to the Western Balkans Investment Framework, which confirmed its support solely for the second motorway.
As suggested in the latest EC report, in order for the same type of support to arrive for the second section of the highway, it’s necessary to complete the cost-benefit analysis funded by the European Union.

The announced allocations for the second highway section – regardless of who will ultimately finance it – are thus significantly higher than the amount originally estimated.
