The Health Insurance Fund has been preparing the new electronic service eEK (Economic Electronic Card), expected to be fully developed and implemented in October.
This has been officially confirmed by the head of the Fund, Mr Sead Čirgić, who explained that the aim of the newly-developed service is to “provide full transparency for insurance beneficiaries, but also the possibility of controlling the costs arising from exercising their health insurance rights, the costs of exercising the right to health care in public and private healthcare institutions, as well as the costs of exercising other rights, for which there are electronic records.”
He added: “Insurance beneficiaries will thus have an insight into the funds from the budget of the Health Insurance Fund, which are spent for exercising their rights.”
Mr Čirgić recalls that the Fund, within the Integrated Health Information System (IISZ), has so far developed and implemented eight electronic services for insurance beneficiaries – eOrdering, eRecipe, eFind, ePharmacy, eInsurance, eOrdering, eExcercising of Rights, eCovid, also available on mobile phones and the portal eHealth.
According to him, the new service will enable better control of costs, as well as the change of a model for financing.
“We see it as a key prerequisite for setting up a functional, flexible and efficient healthcare system.”
