Exploration of oil in Montenegrin submarine extended, weak control over the process

Although Minister of Capital Investments, Mladen Bojanic, claimed in March this year – when the first exploratory drilling operation carried out by the Italian-Russian consortium Eni-Novatek in the Montenegrin submarine began – that “it will take four to six months”, in response to CdM’s questions when to expect the completion of this work, the Ministry of Capital Investments stated that the deadline was by the end of the year.

And while the first exploratory drilling hasn’t been completed yet, drilling of a second borehole, determined by the Mandatory Work Program from Concession Contract with the companies Edi-Novatek, is out of sight.

“The start of exploratory drilling on a second borehole depends on the completion of all activities on the current borehole, so we still don’t know the exact date,” the ministry said.
