A German Ministry of Defence delegation visited Podgorica, with Ambassador Peter Felten telling CdM that Germany aims to deepen defence cooperation with Montenegro, including commercial procurement of military equipment. Talks will continue during the Munich Security Conference.
Felten highlighted Montenegro’s role as a reliable NATO partner, its support for Ukraine, and its contributions to NATO missions. He emphasised the importance of strengthening the European pillar within NATO, particularly in response to Russia’s aggression, and noted shared NATO defence spending goals.
The ambassador also pointed to untapped potential in Montenegro–Germany economic relations, suggesting that stronger defence ties could boost trust, understanding, and broader bilateral trade and investment.
