The Turkish Airlines (TA) company has managed to gain rights to flights to Tivat and is thus directly competing with the Montenegrin company Air Montenegro. As announced, as of 11 June, every Monday, Thursday and Saturday, TA planes will fly from Istanbul to the Montenegrin coast.
According to the Investor, the Montenegrin national airline has reacted to the green light given to the Turkish company, claiming that the existing bilateral agreement on air services does not allow TA to maintain so many flights to Montenegro. However, according to the Indicator, the license was eventually issued to the Turkish airline.
