Generators started working

Works on wind power plants on Krnovo by Niksic that represent an introduction to wind park are currently ongoing. DN learns that 12 wind generators have come into force, two generators a day.

This dynamics means that every generator will be tested by the end of next week, when the whole wind park will start working.

The expected period of trial work is maximum of 4 months.

By introducing 26 wind power plants, Montenegro will become the first country in the region with more than 20 wind power plants installed in one place.

Construction valued at 120 million EUR has begun in May last year, and the wind power plants will have a yearly production of 200 to 230 GW.

The project was implemented by Austrian company Ivicom Consulting and French company Akuo energy. The representative was Krnovo Green Energy and the project was funded by EBRD, German development bank KfW and French investment company for promotion of economic cooperation Proparco.

This project also has touristic potential.

This investment was the first of such big scope in the field of energetics in Montenegro since 1980. The contract means that the land on Krnovo is lent for 20 years with a possibility of prolongation. The state is obliged to buy the electricity for the first 12 years.
There is also a wind power park being built on Mazura hill near Bar, valued at 40 million EUR. Investitor is a state company from Malta Enemalta plc that has provided a bank guarantee for 1.5 million EUR.
