Government adopts decision on the creation of military training ground

Government has adopted the decision on the formation of military training ground on Sinjajevina, said Minister of Defense, Mr Predrag Bošković, at the conference following the Government session.

Minister claims that training ground won’t affect environment on Sinjajevina in any way.

“Training ground will cover three municipalities: Šavnik, Mojkovac and Kolašin. Total surface area is 7,5 thousand hectares. This has been subject of discussion for many years. I must tell you that Government approached this project with utmost responsibility while taking into consideration many different aspects. This country has to pursue its most vital national goals. Defense is certainly one of them”, said Mr Bošković.

Statements that Sinjajevina should be saved now when it’s under threat are unfounded says Minister.

“Army will not devastate environment. Environment protection analyses have shown that there will be zero environment impact”, reiterated Mr Bošković.

If there was slightest margin of chance that this activity could endanger environment on Sinjaevina, I would vote against it, said Minister Bošković.

“Army wants to make Sinjajevina even more accessible to residents and tourists. People from rural eras will have better life. Let’s monitor together the activities of the Armed Forces of Montenegro and let’s see whether they will devastate of improve the area”, said Minister Bošković.
