Government considers an alternative solution for TE Block 2

The Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG) submitted an alternative solution for the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant (TE) Block 2 construction to the Government yesterday.

“In accordance with the Government’s conclusions, EPCG submitted a proposal for an alternative solution for the construction of a new power plant in Pljevlja to the Ministry of Economy. The ministry will consider the proposal and inform the Government about it within the established procedures. The public will be informed in a timely manner about all details of an alternative solution,” the Ministry of Economy told Pobjeda.

EPCG earlier stated that the reason for termination the agreement with Skoda Praha was the fact that even after a year the Czech company was not able to offer an acceptable model for financing the project.

The Montenegrin power company decided to invest €40m in the reconstruction of the existing TE block in line with environmental standards.
