Government not to question education reform over plagiarism issue

At today’s cabinet meeting, the government supported the announcement of the Ministry of Education to require full information on the case of a match between the texts of the Montenegrin and Croatian curricula from the Bureau of Education Services. The ministry is supposed to inform the government about the issue at the next meeting. Nevertheless, they have clearly stated – a comprehensive reform of the education system cannot be called into question by any procedural failures of individuals.

After it has been discovered that the Bureau has copied a large part of Croatian curricula, the issue has been one of the most topical for two days now.

The scandal was discussed by the education ministries of the two countries, Blazenka Divjak and Damir Sehovic. Montenegrin minister expects additional information from the authorities in order to quickly resolve the situation.

At today’s cabinet meeting, Sehovic provided oral brief on the current situation regarding the curricula in Montenegro.

“Within the discussion, it was assessed that a comprehensive reform of the education system, which involves changing several laws and implementing solutions including free basic and master studies, a reformed model of study and financing of the University of Montenegro, established a special fund for the best students and teachers, preconditions for implementing dual education cannot in any way be called into question by possible procedural failures of individuals.
