Concession Act for awarding concession for the right to use Airports of Montenegro will be in the focus of today’s Government session. The Government has decided to valorize the airports though concession, stating that good airport infrastructure and air accessibility of Montenegro is an important prerequisite for accelerated tourism development and overall development of our economy and our country.
Economic analyses have shown that the concession project would be cost-effective.
The concession is expected to be granted for a period of 30 years. Objectives set by the Government include: strengthening competitive positioning of Montenegrin Airports in order to stimulate development of Montenegro as high-quality tourist destination, using private sector investments, raising the standards of service quality…
As the documents states, the Government expects the best possible outcome of the concession project. Concession Act stipulates high upfront payment (€100 million at least), high share of gross revenues in the form of variable concession fee of at least 10% of total revenues annually and investments of around €200 during the concession period.
First Stage at the Airport in Podgorica entails extension and construction of passenger terminal, construction of the runway strap, as well as extension of the existing parking space.
As far as the Airport in Tivat is concerned, the Act envisages construction of water terminal for the transport of passengers via sea, including access roads, construction of Marina Air Terminal for the reception of passengers coming to the airport by sea, recovery of the existing runway…
In the second phase, the Airport in Podgorica will have part of the apron extended, as well as general aviation platforms extended. The Act also envisages construction of a strap of taxiways. Similar works are projected at the Airport in Tivat.
