Assistant of the minister for human and minority rights Blanka Radosevic Marovic said for Antena M that there will be a meeting on Monday between the minister and the organizers of the pride, in order to agree on everything so that this year’s pride would go peacefully.
“I hope that in previous year we managed to improve the attitude of the public by continuous campaigns and educations regarding the understanding of differences among people”, said Radosevic Marovic.
Asked when will Montenegro be ready to organize Pride in other Montenegrin cities, she said that since last year they’ve been signing memorandums on cooperation with local authoritis for protection of LGBT individuals locally.
“Until now nine Montenegrin municipalities signed this memorandum. Negotiations for signing the memorandum are in preparation for municipalities of Niksic and Plav. That would make 11 municipalities with which we have precise activities regarding the protection and respectiing the human rights of LGBT communities in local areas. Our idea is to make a report at the end of the year regarding the functionality of memorandums this year which will give us directions on how to take care of this population locally during the next year”, said Radosevic Marovic.
Pride was scheduled to happen in Niksic too for 18th of September, but it was cancelled due to security concerns.
