Govt sticking to 15 July deadline

Pavle Radulović

The Government won’t extend deadline for legalization of illegally built facilities, stated sustainable development and tourism minister, Pavle Radulović. He’s convinced in success of the legalization project even though the number of submitted requests is somewhat lower than expected. Citizens of Montenegro shall report to responsible authorities if they constructed units without permit, no later than 15 July 2018.

“Deadlines for legalization procedure won’t be extended as we’ve already given enough time and done a very successful project,” said minister Radulović.

According to him, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism has organized significant number of public hearings and visited every village in Montenegro. He announced another round of public hearings, Pobjeda daily reveals.

“It seems that people do not understand. You don’t have to completely legalize your facility until 14 July, it’s enough just to initiate the procedure, so I believe a considerable number of people will file a request, esp. after the second round of public hearings when they get precise information,” explained Radulović.

The legalization process will be successful despite small number of applications. Montenegro citizens are always waiting for the last moment, which will consequently place burden on land registries. “As there is still enough time for submitting applications (one and a half month), we expect that the land registries will be able to deal with additional burden on their business,” said minister Radulović.

He added that owners of non-conforming units will have to pay higher-rate taxes.
